The 7D Ranch began as
a family operation. Dr. DeWitt Dominick, his wife Lee and their five children ran cattle on the property and, in the summers,
opened the ranch as a haven for friends from the East. Three generations later,
little has changed at the 7D. While much of the old West is quickly evolving, the 7D Ranch holds fast to tradition and offers
guests a hearty slice of the West as it once was.
The
ranch is tucked into the scenic and remote Sunlight Basin, 50 miles northwest of Cody, in the heart of Wyoming's Absaroka Mountains. Surrounded by national forest and just a short drive from Yellowstone National Park, the 7D offers a unique wilderness vacation.
Guests
at the 7D enjoy the spectacular scenery while hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and on backcountry pack trips. Visitors catch
occasional glimpses of local wildlife, including elk, deer, moose, coyotes, wolves, bears, and a wide variety of birds. 7D
wranglers are pleased to offer group or individual riding instruction, half‑day and all‑day rides. With over 200
acres of deeded land, and day-use riding and hiking through the thousands of acres of the Shoshone National Forest surrounding the Ranch, the trails offer incredible and remote
wilderness views.

Eleven
rustic cabins, tucked into aspen groves, await you at the 7D Ranch. A crystal, spring‑fed stream meanders between the
cabins and is a convenient cooler for beverages. Meals are served in the Main Lodge dining hall or at picnic tables on the
lawn. The delicious home‑cooked cuisine features freshly‑baked breads, crisp salad greens from the kitchen garden,
7D Ranch beef from our small Black Angus herd, and of course, scrumptious desserts.
A hearty cowboy breakfast, served on the trail, is enjoyed once a week.
